Living

Our master plan for Mountfield Park provides the foundation for the growth of a new community which combines the benefits of city living with the rural character of East Kent.

The landscape qualities of the site and its setting have had a fundamental influence on the master plan. All of the existing woodland will be retained and we will plant over 20 hectares of new woodland to enhance the living environment and provide important wildlife habitat. Access to open space for recreation, sport and food growing has also been high on our agenda.

We have designed the first 140 homes to set a new standard of home building in Canterbury. Designed by award-winning architects Proctor & Matthews, our houses are designed for 21st Century lifestyles with flexible living space, dedicated cycle storage, roof terraces and many more attractive features. They respond to the needs of different households with Canterbury, from first time buyers to down-sizers.

Alongside new homes a range of community services and new facilities will be built. Our plans include two new primary schools, a doctors’ surgery, local shops and a new community centre. These will be centrally located, and a network of pedestrian and cycle routes will make them easy to access.

You can explore the features of the master plan here.

What about affordable housing?

30% of all new houses at Mountfield Park will be affordable homes made up of rental and shared ownership properties. We are also committed to exploring the potential for starter homes and self-build plots. .
